Positive Diversions

Corde solide - Solid RopeThe start of a habit is like a fine thread, but with every repetition of the action, we add another fine thread, which added to the preceeding thread, ends up forming a strong cable that support us firmly, thoughts and actions. - inspired by Orison Swett Marden

Each time we accomplish an action, we are establishing connections between certain neurons. This connection persists and is accessible if we wish to relive the emotions, the sensations, the behaviour. With each repetition of the action, we reinforce the connection established between the concerned neurons. This is how we create habits. A habit is a practically irresistible impulse (I said practically, right?), which drives us to act, or react in a certain manner, or to say certain things, or to perform certain actions.

The Spiritual Essence of Living Foods

Spiritualité

True spirituality encompasses our consciousness of the oness of life and the universe. To be able to truly acknowledge our link with all that surrounds us, the visible and invisible, the perceptible and imperceptible, we have to give our bodies food that will elevate us spiritually.

We are not the sum of our cells, protons, neutrons, electrons and the electrical charges circulating between them. No more than we are merely the reflection in the miror. Science these days has us accustomed to consider only what we can see, touch, measure. The intangible, the subtle: forget it! Not considered and ill considered.

In order to elevate our consciousness, we must make the effort to provide our bodies with the indispensible vital energy necessary to raise awareness. The foods yielding the highest vibrational energy are the ones still growing at the time of consumption. We are talking about sprouted nuts and seeds, sprouts, and fresh root vegetables. Wild edible plants, organic by default if not polluted by humans, come in close second especially if consumed right after harvesting.

Men and Living Foods

Male-gorilla-eats-raw-vegan-foodFollowing a most hilarious conversation on men, divas and living foods, I couldn't resist the temptation to write an article specially for them. Or at least about them. Oh! Men! We love 'em... But...But...

A man that wants to transition to raw and living foods will encounter more adversity than a woman. Poor thing. Sort of like a man's flu is sooooo much worse than a woman's, right? A man... he is manly and eats meat to be manly, no? A virile... vegan? Nah! Impossible!

Impossible, you say? Check out the strapping fellow just on the side here. He is a vegan (okay, so he munchs on the occasional bug, but who would want any?). He is a raw foodist (100% no less!). And nobody would dare say this guy look like a female!

Women on diets, you see them by the dozens all around you everyday. Maybe you are one of them. A man eats steak and fries, not salad. A man drinks beer with his friends, not lemon water. A man has stature, robustness, he is not skinny, slim or willowy. Come on!

So our poor guys have it reeeeaaaallllyyyy tough when they switch to raw and living foods. What good reasons could we provide them that would help them carry on? What moral boost could we give them to help alleviate the torture of coworkers, family, friends? We women, are sensitive to your suffering guys! Here are a few choice arguments you can sling a those who would stand in your way...

The road traveled is more important than the destination in living foods

This little phrase, often repeated, has an entirely different meaning for the aspiring raw foodist that sees his new-found enthusiasm for living foods take up all the space in his life.

The living foods lifestyle path is a process: confusing, exciting and sometimes frustrating. The first question always remains: what will I eat??? Most eat habitually, without giving it a whole lot of thought. With living foods, this will no longer be possible (at least in the beginning). Everything becomes complicated.

To simplify your life, here are a few suggestions:
